Obituary of Peggy D. Hart
Please share a memory of Peggy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Peggy Diane Hart, 83, of Carlinville, IL, passed away on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at Lakeside Health Care in Carlinville, IL.
Peggy was born on January 10, 1941, in Godfrey, IL, to Henry and Anita (Atkins) Bock. She attended Jerseyville schools and married Carol G. Hart, on July 26, 1960, at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Carlinville, IL.
Peggy dedicated her life to helping others, working at the Macoupin County Center for the Developmentally Disabled. She wore many hats, including camp director and counselor, rug maker, Bingo concessions, van driver, teacher's aide, janitor, and landscaping. A tireless volunteer and lifelong advocate for the Developmentally Disabled, Peggy also served as a board member and volunteered for every fundraising dinner. She also found time to help care for all the neighborhood kids and be a playground aide for many years at South Elementary School, where she was adored by many children.
Peggy found joy in camping, sewing, movies, baking, and gardening. She loved dancing with her sisters, which is how she met her husband, Carol. Above all, Peggy cherished her time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her grandson, Gene Hart; her sisters, Maggie Heitzman and Betty Fitzgibbons; and her brothers, LeMar "Barney" Bock, William "Billy" Bock, Glenn "Mose" Bock, Charles Bock, Henry Paul Bock, and Alvin Ray Bock.
Peggy is survived by her husband, Carol Hart, of Carlinville, IL; her children: Jeffrey (Stephanie) Hart of Carlinville, IL, Julie Hart of Carlinville, IL, Debra (Mike) Lyons of Carlinville, IL, and Kendall (Joanna) Hart of Farmington, MO; and her grandchildren: Rebecca Hart, Jeffrey (Olivia) Hart, Anessa Hart, Ryenn Hart, Barry Hart, Hannah Lyons, Hank Lyons, Youen Ropers, Mandy Ropers, Killian Ropers, Jet Hart, and Zaxtin Coulson. Peggy’s family is eagerly anticipating the arrival of their first great-grandchild, Lillian Jane Hart, in February 2025. She is also survived by her sisters, Joann Hall of Brighton, IL, and Alice Dunham of Jerseyville, IL, as well as many nieces and nephews.
