Paul Raymond Bomkamp, 86 of Carlinville, Illinois passed away Monday, January 17, 2022, at Carlinville Area Hospital. Paul was born October 8, 1935, in Carlinville, IL, a son of Joseph and Regina (Schaefer) Bomkamp. Paul graduated from Carlinville High School with the class of 1954. He married Sandra Carty March 12, 1971 in Carlinville, Illinois. Paul was preceded in death by his parents; Joseph Bomkamp and Regina (Schaefer) Bomkamp Thomas, wife, "Sandy", grandson, Boone Bomkamp, and sister Rosina Kasten. Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 22, 2022, 9:00 to 11:00 am at Ss Mary and Joseph Catholic Church, Carlinville, IL. Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11:00 am, Saturday, January 22, 2022 at Ss Mary and Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Michael Haag Celebrant. Burial will follow in Prairie Lawn Cemetery. Paul is survived by his son, Todd Bomkamp of Barrington Hills, IL, son, Craig (Myrna) Bomkamp of Girard, IL, son, Brian Bomkamp of Chesterfield, MO, daughter, Paula (Doug) Campbell of Carlinville, IL, 13 grandchildren; Amy Hurd, Matt Bomkamp, Samantha Bomkamp, Joe Bomkamp, Ashley Simons, Cleo Campbell , Richard Campbell, Sophia Campbell, William Bomkamp, Charlie Bomkamp, Brittany Bomkamp, Brandy Bomkamp, and Heather Spears, 14 great-grandchildren; Talon Fosnock, Kane Bomkamp, Lilly and Cooper Bomkamp, Henley and Addley Bomkamp, Austin, Jaeden and Carson Buser, Koda, Kallan and Connor Hurd, Mackenzie and Ethan Heller and 7 siblings; brother, William (Maxine) Bomkamp of Gillespie, IL, brother, Norman (Judy) Bomkamp of Spokane, WA, brother, Richard "Dick" (Kathy) Bomkamp of Lakeland, FL, brother, Leonard (Dorothy) Bomkamp of Carlinville, IL, sister, Jo Ann (Sonny) Richey of Medora, IL, sister, Rita (George) Cerar of Carlinville, IL, several nieces and nephews. Paul was a man of faith, integrity and honor who cherished his family and friends deeply. During high school Paul participated in 3 years of track, 4 years of FFA, and was named Snowball King his senior year. After graduation he served in the Army for 2 yrs. He married Marilyn Walden they had three boys, Todd, Craig and Brian. Later married Sandra Carty March 12, 1971 and had a daughter, Paula. They were married just shy of 50 years when Sandra passed away last January. Paul worked for 40 plus years as a fuel and oil distributor for Shell while also managing a small farm. He was a lifelong member of Elks as well as a member of Moose in Carlinville. His hobbies included dancing, waterskiing, bowling, playing cards, horse shoes, washers as well as many of other social activities. Paul was a true friend to many, a wonderful husband and father. The ripples created in our world by his life will forever be felt by family and friends. Memorials may be made to Elks Christmas Baskets or Help the Elf.
