Obituary of William E. "Bill" Whitaker

William Eugene "Bill" Whitaker Jr., 59, of Virden, passed away Wednesday afternoon, July 10, 2019 at his residence in Virden, IL.

Bill was born on February 9, 1960 to William and Doris (Bolton) Whitaker in Springfield, IL. He married Nancy Stewart on October 14, 1978 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Virden. Bill worked as a machine operator for Dickey-John in Auburn for 20 years, retiring in 2005. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed camping. Bill loved spending time with his grandchildren and family.

Bill is survived by his wife of 40 years, Nancy Whitaker of Virden, IL; three sons, Mike Stewart, Chris Whitaker, and Jason Whitaker all of Virden, IL; two grandsons, Malinki (Fiancé, Cheney Otto) Whitaker and Ayden Stewart; great grandson, Ryker Whitaker, as well as two nephews and one niece.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Clifford Bolton and Charles Whitaker, as well as two sisters, Dorothy Sexton and LouAnn Rogers.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2019 from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home, Girard, IL.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm at the funeral home with Pastor Dave Boswell officiating and Mike Stewart serving as Eulogist.

Burial will follow in Virden Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to HSHS St. John's Hospice.
