Obituary of Wyman P. Deck

Wyman P. "Bill" Deck, 91 of Girard, IL passed away Monday morning, December 3, 2018, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield, IL. Wyman was born September 9, 1927, in Girard, IL, a son of Lewis Wyman and Naomi (Parks) Deck. Wyman graduated from Girard High School with the class of 1945. After graduation he joined the Navy and served for 2 years. He was co-owner of Deck's Drug Store in Girard where he was a Pharmacy Technician. Wyman was a former Librarian at the Auburn Public Schools .Member of the Guy Baird American Legion #554 in Carlinville, Macoupin County Civil War Roundtable, Girard High School Alumni Association, Girard Chamber of Commerce, Illinois Audubon Society, U of I Library Fraternity and Alumni Association, Eureka College and Blackburn College Alumni Association, Girard Community Center Committee, Route 66 Association of Illinois, Macoupin County Historical Society, Ronald Reagan Society of Eureka College and most recently awarded Girard Citizen of the Year in 2017. Wyman received his BA degree from Eureka College and his Masters from the U of I in Library Science. Wyman was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Robert L. Deck March 14, 2013. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00pm at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Girard, IL. Funeral Services will be conducted at 10:00am December 7, 2018 at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Girard Cemetery, Girard. Wyman is survived by numerous friends. Memorials may be made to Girard Community Center.
