Obituary of Louis D. "Lou" Imel

Louis D. "Lou" Imel, 75, of Carlinville, passed away Sunday morning, September 23, 2018 at his residence in Carlinville, IL.

Lou was born on October 20, 1942 to Forrest "Sam" Imel and Ester (Maguire) Dugan in Carlinville, IL. He graduated from Carlinville High School and served in the United States Navy during the Cuban Missal Crisis.

Lou worked for and retired from Hays Trucking in Carlinville. He also worked as a transport driver for Macoupin County Transportation. Lou was a member of the Carlinville VFW, Elks Lodge, and Moose Lodge.

Lou is survived by 2 sons, Max Imel of White City, OR, and Nathan Imel of Spearfish, SD; daughter, Trish Scott-Pennington of OH; 2 grandchildren, Liam and Alina Imel; brother, Ed (Sharon) Dugan of Carlinville, IL; sister, Theresa Rathgeb of Sparta, TN, as well as 2 nieces and 1 nephew.

Lou was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Michael Scott.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Noon, Saturday, September 29, 2018 at the Carlinville VFW located at 208 South West Street in Carlinville.

Memorials are suggested to the Wounded Warriors Project.
