Thomas Earl Damm, age 76, of Girard, passed away Wednesday evening, June 1, 2016, at his daughters residence in Girard, IL.
Tom was born April 13, 1940, in Wrights, IL, one of 14 children born to Carl E. and Vesta Mae (Jackson) Damm.
He married Nancy (Daniels) in 1959 and they later divorced. On January 30, 1969 Tom married the former Marilyn (Clark), their marriage ended in divorce and she passed away in 2004.
Tom was a former Chief of Police in Girard before opening Damm Salvage Yard in Girard. He retired in 2001. He enjoyed attending Silver Strands and looked forward to a good game of cards. Tom was known for sitting down and visiting with anyone who had time to share stories.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, daughter; Tonda Jane Damm, son; Tommy Damm, brothers, Dick and Leroy Damm and two grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 6, 2016, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home, Girard, IL.
Graveside Services will be conducted at 10:00 am, Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield, IL.
Tom is survived by his son, Eddie Damm of Girard, IL, son, Randy Damm of Roodhouse, IL, son, Lyn Damm of Roodhouse, IL, son, Timmy Damm of Girard, IL, daughter, Kimberly (Danny) Ginder of Girard, IL, son, Darrin (Jenny) Damm of Girard, IL, 15 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, brother, Dean (Ruth) Damm of Benld, IL, brother, Marion Damm of Sorento, IL, brother, Jim (Frances) Damm of Mason City, IL, brother, Kenny Damm of Palmyra, IL, brother, Gary (Betty) Damm of Carlinville, IL, brother, Dave (Kathy) Damm of Carlinville, IL, sister, Sue Coke of MO, sister, Barb Hall of LA, sister, Betty Combs of Carrollton, IL, brother, John (Patty) Damm of Winchester, IL, brother, Raymond Damm of Girard, IL and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to Girard Fire and Rescue Squad.
