Obituary of Clifford A. Jenkins

Clifford A Jenkins , 86 of Girard, passed away Friday evening, September 25, 2015, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield, IL. Cliff was born October 19, 1928, in Girard, IL, a son of Asa and Sadie (Adcock) Jenkins. Cliff graduated from Girard High School with the class of 1946. He married Dorothy (West) Hardin on August 31, 1973, in Las Vegas, NV. She passed away October 8, 2014. Cliff served 4 years in the Army. He then enlisted in the Air Force and served his country for 21 years while doing a tour in Vietnam. After his retirement, Cliff was employed as a tool and die worker at Allis Chalmers in Springfield. He later worked for Panhandle Eastern in Divernon where he serviced pumps and retired from the Girard School District as a custodian. Cliff enjoyed woodworking in his spare time. Cliff was preceded in death by his parents, wife, five brothers and an infant sister. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 30, 2015, from 2:00 to 3:00 pm at the Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Girard, IL. Graveside Services will be conducted at 3:15 pm Wednesday,September 30, 2015 at Girard Cemetery, Girard, IL. Full military rites will be conducted and he will be laid to rest next to his wife in the Girard Cemetery. Cliff is survived by his daughter, Shelley (Mike) Talkington of Girard, IL, daughter, Donna (Don) Sanson of Carlinville, IL, son, Doug (Barb) Hardin of Girard, IL, grandchildren; David Sanson, Dawn Sanson-Raftis, Dan Sanson, Lindsey Sloman, Abbey Hardin, Melissa Miller and Christopher Gunn, 12 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
