Heaven is rejoicing in the arrival of Joyce R. Olroyd born February 2, 1938 in Washington D.C. to parents Thomas G. and Constance R. (Reed) Schmidt. God richly blessed Joyce with husband Peter W. Olroyd II whom she married on December 29, 1953 in Hillsboro. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Pete and dear son-in-law Brent E. Stayton. Joyce attended high school in Washington, D.C. and later received her diploma from Carlinville High School.
From 1973 until her retirement in 1991 Joyce worked as a physical therapist assistant at Weatherford Sunshine Manor in Carlinville.
A devoted Christian, wife and mother of five children, Joyce made a profession of faith accepting the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior alongside her husband on September 18, 1955 at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Carlinville. The Lord used Joyce as His servant in various ways throughout her life. For many years, she taught young adult and later senior adult Sunday school at Emmanuel Baptist along with serving as church pianist.
