Obituary of Alice F. Walter

Alice F. (Mayes) Walter, 75, of Carlinville, IL, passed away Sunday, December 1, 2024, at Lakeside Health Care in Carlinville, IL. Alice was born September 19, 1949, in Waverly, IL, a daughter of Floyd and Ida (Ferris) Mayes. Alice graduated from Northwestern High School with the class of 1968. She married David Walter on February 29, 2000, at the Macoupin County Courthouse. Alice was a cook for Carlinville Area Hospital, Carlinville Senior Center, and Carlinville Estates, retiring in 2016. She enjoyed cooking for anyone and everyone. She loved shopping on QVC and watching TV. She loved her little dogs and sisters Rose Helm and Betty Mayes. Her joy in life was being around her grandkids, family and her dogs. Alice was preceded in death by her husband and parents. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Alice is survived by her daughter, Courtney (Jason) Shepard of Girard, IL, four grandchildren: River (Kim) Mercer, Tiffany Mercer, D.J. Mercer, and Tyler Shepard, one great-grandson: Tate Crifasi, two sisters: Betty Mayes of Eastland, TX, and Rose Helm of Eastland, TX, 2 nieces, as well as several great nieces and nephews. Memorial donations may be made to Macoupin County Animal Shelter. Davis-Anderson Funeral Home, Carlinville, is in charge of arrangements.
