Obituary of Ida Mae Leach

Ida Mae Leach, 88, of Carlinville, IL, passed away on Sunday, October 13, 2024, at her residence in Carlinville, IL. Ida Mae was born January 26, 1936, in South Otter Township, IL, the daughter of Robert Lee and Mabel Ella (Pratt) Quarton. Ida Mae graduated from Carlinville High School with the class of 1954. She married the love of her life, Donald Earl Leach, on November 14, 1954, in South Otter Township. Ida Mae had many roles throughout her lifetime, but what she cherished most was being a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her family was everything to her. She and Don loved travelling throughout the US. Even after Don passed away, Ida Mae continued to travel frequently to visit her kids. Her grandkids held a special place in her heart. She loved watching them participate in all of their activities. Ida Mae also had a love for baseball, watching and cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals. She emphasized the acronym J.O.Y. Jesus first, others second and then yourself. She was an inspiring Christian woman, being an active member of Charity Baptist Church for over 60 years where she was a deacon's wife, WMU leader and a prayer chain chairman. Spreading her love for Jesus was her top priority that she was able to continue throughout her life. She worked for ASCS and Rathgeb Brothers. She was also a Mary Kay Cosmetics consultant and a farm wife. She was a wonderful wife, mother, aunt, friend and sister who was always there when she was needed most by offering prayers, wisdom, and love in abundance. A friend to many, she was a cherished member of her community, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and strength. She shared Jesus and His love with everyone she met up until her last days. Ida Mae could always find a hymn to sing that related to what you were experiencing in each season of life. Ida Mae’s goal in life was that all her family and friends would know Jesus so that we can be reunited with her in heaven someday. Ida Mae was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Donald Earl Leach, brother, Donald Lee Quarton, sister, Mabel LaVerl Hilyard, sister, Olyta Maxine Hazelwood, and sister, Myrtle Lucille Harding. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 21, 2024, 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Charity Baptist Church, Carlinville, IL. Funeral Services will be conducted at 10:30 am, Tuesday, October 22, 2024 at Charity Baptist Church, Carlinville, IL. Burial will follow in Charity Cemetery, Carlinville, IL. Ida Mae is survived by her son, David Earl Leach of Shaker Heights, OH, son, Darrell Eugene (Sandra) Leach of Lake City, FL, daughter, Deann Marie (Glenn) LaTerre of Smyrna, TN, daughter, Leann Mae (David) Barr of Carlinville, IL, grandson, Andrew David (Stephanie) Leach, granddaughter, Michelle Ann (Michael) Mattingly, granddaughter, Amanda Troi (Jacob) Schien, granddaughter, Adriann Leigh (Chandler) Seago, granddaughter, Emily Christine (Devon) Passalacqua, granddaughter, Sophie Marie LaTerre, great grandson, Griffin Covert Leach, great granddaughter, Julia Mae Leach, great grandson, Beau Allen Seago, great granddaughter, Ryleigh Mae Schien. Also surviving are sister, Geneva Carolyn (Jim) Frankford, brother, Robert Keith (Valerie) Quarton, sister-in-law, Beverly Morehead Leach, brother-in-law, Alvis Frankford.
