Suanne "Sue" Vieceli, 82, of Eustis, FL, formerly of Carlinville, IL, passed away Sunday, June 30, 2024, at her home in Florida.
Sue was born October 22, 1941, in Chicago, IL, a daughter of Raymond John and Lillian Marie (Tutkus) Plute. She graduated from Herrin High School in 1959 and attended St. May's School of Nursing in Quincy, IL. She married Charles "Chuck" Vieceli on June 19, 1965, in Herrin, IL.
Sue was very passionate about her 50-year career as a nurse. She worked as a nurse at Herrin Hospital, Barry Care Center, and Carlinville Area Hospital.
She also enjoyed traveling with her husband and enjoying lots of adventures with her friends and family and living her life to the fullest.
Sue was an active member Ss Mary and Joseph Catholic Church in Carlinville, IL, serving as parish nurse for 5 years, a St. Vincent De Paul Society member, a member of Stitch and Stir Home Extension Unit, serving as president for over 6 years, and acted as guardian for Land of Lincoln Honor Flight for Veterans. Sue received the Diocese of Springfield in Illinois Woman of Distinction Award in 2012.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Charles Vieceli, and son in law, Scott "Howie" Long.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 2, 2024, from 9:30-10:30 am at Ss Mary and Joseph Catholic Church, 2010 East 1st South ST, Carlinville, IL. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 am with Deacon Denny Baker and Fr. Joe Koyickal officiating. A private family burial will take place.
Sue is survived by her son, Kevin (Dixie) Vieceli of St. Louis, MO, daughter, Andrea (Brian) Little of Eustis, FL, grandchildren; Broedy (Alyssa) Long, Gabe Long, Zayn Long, and Chelsea (Chris) Sisneros, great-grandchildren, Annaliese, Gabriella, and Remington Sisneros, brother, Ron (Jan) Plute of Fort Worth, TX, sister in law, Tilda (the late Dave Jordan) Jordan of Herrin, IL, Jeanie (the late Eugene Vieceli) Vieceli of Johnston City, IL, and sister in law, Judy (Chuck) Davis of Johnston City, IL, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to St. Vincent De Paul Society.
