Obituary of Suzanne E. Sutton nee Cernaix

Suzanne E. Sutton (nee Cernaix), 96, of Palmyra, IL, formerly of Girard, passed away at her home on Thursday, December 14, 2023. Suzanne was born October 13, 1927, in Montbelaird Doubs, France, a daughter of Victor Jean-Marie and Carmen Ann-Eugenie Prevant Cernaix. She married Virgil L. Sutton, on May 7, 1955, in Munich, Germany. Suzanne worked as a nurse's aide and ward clerk at St. John's Hospital in Springfield, IL. She was also a homemaker. She loved to spend her time doing all types of needlework, cooking, canning, gardening, and sewing. She also loved to fish and travel as well as bird watching. She was a member of the Macoupin County Historical Society. Suzanne was preceded in death by her father, mother, and husband. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, 10:00-11:30 am, at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home, Girard, IL. Graveside Services will be conducted at 12:00 pm, Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at Girard Cemetery with Pastor Terry Link presiding. Burial will follow in Girard Cemetery, Girard, IL. Suzanne is survived by 3 sisters, 1 brother, brothers in law, Wendell (Joan) Sutton of Girard, IL, and Henry (Karen) Sutton of Girard, IL, and caretakers, David and Jacki Carey, as well as several nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to Carlinville Area Hospital or Macoupin County Historical Society. Davis-Anderson Funeral Home, Girard, IL, is in charge of arrangements.
