Obituary of Charlie Rhine

Charles Ross Rhine, 77 of Waverly, IL passed away Sunday morning, March 12, 2023, at his residence.
Charlie was born March 30, 1945, in Hillsboro, IL, a son of Charles Ross Sr. and Jean (Licht)) Rhine.
His first marriage was to Nadine Stottler and they later divorced. In 1993, Charlie married Beverly Savage in Jacksonville, IL.
Charlie retired from Freeman United Coal Company at age 55, giving him time to pursue his favorite pastimes including trap shooting, crappie fishing, cooking, growing heirloom tomatoes, and growing and making his famous pickled beets. Charlie loved all animals and especially his cats, leaving behind Willie, Patches and Boots. He adored granddaughters Alex, Quinn and Apryl. They thought that grandpa could do anything. His favorite teams were the Fighting Illini, Cardinals and Raiders and any team that played the Bears. He also coached Little League. Charlie was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church, in Jacksonville and a Christian. He was a patriot and very proud of his service to his country and the Army in Vietnam.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Stephanie Lynn Rhine.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 17, 2023, 10:00 to 12:00 pm at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home, Girard, IL.
Funeral Services will be conducted at noon, Friday, March 17, 2023 at the funeral home.
Charlie is survived by his wife, Beverly Rhine, son, Marty (partner Julie) Rhine, of Glen Carbon, IL, step-daughter, Brandye (Ron) Hendrickson of Drippings Springs, TX, step-daughter, Tiffany Farmer of Waverly, IL, step-son, Blake (Mandy) Kruthaupt of Denver, CO., several grandchildren, sister, Carol Ann (Allen) Boehler of Atwater, IL and several nieces and nephews.
