On Saturday, October 29, 2022, Rebecca “Becky” Jane Guthrie, loving wife and mother, passed away at age 71 at home with her loving family by her side. Becky was born on October 24, 1951, in Jacksonville, IL, to Robert and Marjorie (Neff) Lonergan. Becky was raised in Girard and on June 5, 1971, she married Glenn “Bill” Guthrie Jr. and together they raised their daughter, Carrie, and son, Mark, in Shipman, IL. Becky was passionate about helping others. She worked for St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield as a Home Health Caregiver and a phlebotomist. She continued this passion by volunteering as an EMT with the Shipman Fire Department while raising her children. Becky loved music, especially the band Fleetwood Mac and was a collector of antiques. She was known for her compassionate spirit. She will be deeply missed by her loving husband of 51 years, Bill; their children, Carrie Guthrie (John) of Alton; Mark Guthrie (JoAnn) of Brighton; and her grandchildren, Deja and Jeda Robinson and Addison, Elliott, and Ray Guthrie. Additionally, Becky’s caregiver Amy Schultz provided exceptional care for the last seven years as she struggled with Alzheimer’s. Becky passed away at home with her loving family by her side. She is also survived by her brother Tim Lonergan and nieces and nephews Libby Conroy, Jeremiah Jacobs, Ryan Lonergan, and Lindy Lonergan. Becky was preceded in death by her father, Robert, her mother, Marjorie, her step-father Lawrence Prose, and her sister, Sharon Jacobs. Visitation will be held for family and friends at 10 am on Thursday, November 3rd at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Girard, IL. Services will follow at 11 am, with Chaplain Mary Ann Lawrance officiating. Becky will be honored in a celebration of life in the spring for family and friends. Donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Association. Please remember Becky’s favorite quote, “Everything happens for a reason, just believe.”
