James Richard "Jim" Lambeth, 97, of Plainview, IL, passed away on Sunday, December 26, 2021 at Cedar Creek in Godfrey, IL.
Jim was born on January 25, 1924 to Fred and Lucinda (Duncan) Lambeth in Spring Creek, MO. He graduated from Rolla High School with the class of 1942. On November 30, 1942 he married Beulah Drew in Rolla, MO and she preceded him in death on June 16, 2016. He proudly served in the United States Army during WWII.
Jim was a lifelong grain and livestock farmer in the Plainview area. He was a member of the Plainview Baptist Church where he served as Deacon, as well as the Bethlehem Baptist Church in rural Shipman. Jim enjoyed a huge garden and shared his harvest with the community. He was a beekeeper and liked grafting fruit trees and loved his pecan trees. He had a wonderful passion for hunting and fishing and was a good student of the Bible.
Jim is survived by his daughter, Sharon (Tom) Beckham of Potosi, MO; two sons, David and John Lambeth both of Plainview, IL; 10 grandchildren, Kristie Gray, Kathryn Neff, Larry Lambeth, Rick Lambeth, Tim Lambeth, Sarah Tigo, Scott Lambeth, Melinda Winkelman, Kim Smith, and David Lambeth, Jr., as well as 18 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; wife; daughter-in-law, Linda Lambeth, and 3 sisters and 2 brothers.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 5, 2022, from 10:00 am to Noon at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Medora, IL.
Funeral services will follow the visitation at 12:30 pm at the church, with Rev's. Joyce Anders and Ray Robinson officiating.
Jim will be laid to rest next to his wife in Mayfield Memorial Park Cemetery, Mausoleum of Valor.
Memorials are suggested to the St. James Veteran's Home, St. James, MO.
