Fannie E. Pocklington, 72, of Girard, passed away Monday morning, March 1, 2021 at her residence in Girard, IL.
Fannie was born on March 28, 1948 to James and Frieda (Kretzer) Malone in Centralia, IL. She attended Carlinville schools and earned herself a degree as an LPN from Capitol Area School of Practical Nursing in 1978. On August 22, 1998 she married Wallace "Wally" Pocklington in Las Vegas, NV.
Fannie worked as an LPN for Dr. Robert England for many years until her retirement. Staying home for Fannie did not last long though as she decided to go back to work as a nurse at Pleasant Hill Nursing Home in Girard, and later for Cathy Guidish, finally permanently retiring in 2011. She was a member of St Paul's United Church of Christ in Carlinville, volunteered at the Macoupin County Historical Society and enjoyed family genealogy. Fannie absolutely loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Fannie is survived by her husband Wally Pocklington of Girard, IL; daughter, Lora (Lindell) Striplin of Riverton, IL; two sons, Charles "Bogey" Chance, Jr. of Carlinville, IL, and Jerry (Lindsy) Lynn of Fordsville, KY; two step-daughters, Tracy Cummings of Standard City, IL, and Marla Pocklington of Albuquerque, NM; six grandchildren; nine step grandchildren; several great grandchildren; four brothers, James (Bertha) Malone of Odin, IL, Donald (Karen) Malone of Carlinville, IL, Charles (Linda) Malone of Rye, TX, and Everett (Vicki) Malone of Hettick, IL; two sisters, Billie (Jerry) Busby of Nilwood, IL, and Mary Sue Eller of Stanford, IL, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Fannie was preceded in death by her parents, and a grandson, Andrew C. Chance.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 5, 2021 from 11:00 am - 12:30 pm at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home, Girard, IL.
Graveside services will follow at 1:00 pm at Bethel Ridge Cemetery, Rural Atwater, IL with Rev. Katrina Palan officiating.
Memorials are suggested to the Macoupin County Historical Society or to the family for donations of their choosing.
