Obituary of Donna E. Anderson

Donna E. Anderson, 85, of Girard, formerly of Tolono, IL, passed away Tuesday morning, October 6, 2020, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL, one day before her 86th birthday. Donna was born on October 7, 1934, to Harlie and Nina (Johnson) Hatfill in Pleasant Mound, IL. She graduated from Paris High School and Eastern Illinois University. She married William L. Anderson in 1962 in Rockford and they later divorced. Donna was a teacher of Business and Physical Education in Rockford and Rantoul, IL. She also worked for Illinois Foundation Seeds in Tolono. Donna loved sports and was very active in her younger years. She thoroughly enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren participate in sporting events, plays, and musicals. Donna was a member of First Christian Church of Girard. In her spare time, she liked to refinish furniture, quilt, crochet and needle stitch. Because of her loving nature, everyone thought of her as a second mom and she was quite the animal lover. Donna is survived by a daughter, Tracy (Scott) Calhoun of Coal Valley, IL; 2 grandchildren, Lindsay (Ann DeLorenzo) Calhoun, and Laurel (Aaron) Dean; 3 great grandchildren, Dylan and Emmitt Dean, and Nina Calhoun-DeLorenzo; two sisters, Betty Richardson of Girard, IL, and Harriet (Dave) Reynolds of Iowa City, IA, as well as several nieces and nephews. Donna was preceded in death by her parents; son, William Anderson; grandson, Caleb Calhoun; great granddaughter, Cate Calhoun-DeLorenzo; brother-in-law, Tom Richardson, and a nephew, Tom Reynolds. Graveside Services will be conducted on Saturday, October 10, 2020 at 11:00 am at Mulberry Grove Cemetery, Mulberry Grove, IL, with Rev. Marty Nagel officiating. Memorials are suggested to Girard Fire and Rescue Squad.
