Obituary of Wilford Harold Legg
Wilford Harold Legg, 91 of Carlinville, formerly of Robinson, IL, passed away Friday morning, June 22, 2018, at Heritage Manor in Carlinville, IL.
Wilford was born January 13, 1927, in Chauncey, Il. a son of Wilbur and Alvessa (Goodman) Legg.
Wilford graduated from Lawrenceville High School with the class of 1944 and attended business college in Vincennes, IN.
Wilford proudly served his country in the Navy during W.W. 2.
He married Rosemary A. Cooper, June of 1948 in Lawrenceville, IL.
Wilford was retired from the Marathon Oil Company as a District Manager in Casper, WY. His family lived in six different states while his was employed with Marathon.
He was a member of Robinson United Methodist Church and attended Carlinville United Methodist Church while living in Carlinville. Wilford served twice as the Exalted Ruler for the B.P.O.E. in Robinson, IL. and once in Tulsa, OK. He loved to water-ski and skied up to the age of 70.
Wilford was preceded in death by his parents, wife and a daughter, Karen Sue Legg in 1959.
Visitation will be held Friday, June 29, 2018 from 10:00 to 11:00am at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00am with Rev. Rex Hendrix officiating.
Burial will follow in Lawrenceville City Cemetery, Lawrenceville, IL.
Wilford is survived by his daughter, Sherri (Jack) Rutherford of Carlinville, IL, granddaughter, Janna (Brian) Roosevelt of Schaumburg, IL, grandson, Jeremy (Rachael) Tinder of Chicago, IL, great-grandchildren, Abigail and Andrew Roosevelt and August Tinder, brother, Rev. Jerry (Lee Ann) Richards of Eau Claire, WS, two nieces and a nephew.
