Obituary of Barbara Lynne Koester

Barbara Lynne Koester, 73, of Springfield, formerly of Girard, passed away Monday evening, January 9, 2017 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL. Barbara was born on July 26, 1943 to Carl and Martha (Hardin) Hinckle in Springfield, IL. In June 1961 she married George Koester in Tinley Park, IL and they later divorced. Barbara was a homemaker, as well as a CNA for Pleasant Hill Village in Girard. She was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed playing bingo and listening to country western music. Barbara is survived by her son, Gary (Chris) Koester of Mantino, IL, daughter, Lynne Goodwin of Columbus, OH; son, Lee (Bess) Koester of Chatham, IL; daughter, Shanon (Lucas) Taylor of Springfield, IL; 11 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; brother, Gordon (Linda) Hinckle of Shorewood, IL, and 1 niece and 1 nephew. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 13, 2017 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home, Girard, IL. Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association. Davis-Anderson Funeral Home, Girard is in charge of arrangements.
