Obituary of Donald Coultas

Donald J. Coultas, 76, of Girard, passed away Sunday morning, October 23, 2016 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL. Don was born on March 10, 1940, the only child of James H. and Lucile (Bowen) Coultas in Springfield, IL. He graduated from Girard High School with the class of 1958. On December 18, 1960 he married Melba M. Weese at the First Christian Church in Springfield. Don farmed in the Girard area his lifetime, retiring in 1999. He also was a salesman for Pioneer Seed Company. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Girard and a former member of the Macoupin County Farm Bureau. Don Loved camping and traveling and has traveled in 49 states. He was a NASCAR fan and he was known as the "go to guy" for any new electronic devices. His love and passion was his family and farming. Don is survived by his wife Melba; two daughters, Diane Coultas of Thayer, IL and Denise (Craig) Specht of Pawnee, IL; two grandsons, Dylan Specht and Zachary Specht; one granddaughter, Abbey Specht. Don was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 26, 2016, from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm at the Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Girard, IL. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 27, 2016, at 10:00 am at the Davis-Anderson Funeral Home, with Pastor Chuck Kurfman, officiating. Burial will take place in the Rovey Cemetery in Farmersville, IL. Memorials are suggested to the Simmons Cancer Center in Springfield, Illinois.
