Robert L. "Bob" Bryant, 86, of Girard, passed away Saturday morning, September 3, 2016 at St. John's Hospital in Springfield, IL.
Bob was born on August 29, 1930 to Roy and Iona (Smith) Bryant in Tovey, IL. He served in the United States Army as a Corporal during the Korean War. On April 30, 1955 Bob married Helen "Mackie" Meacham in Kincaid, IL and they recently celebrated 61 years of marriage.
Bob worked as a construction laborer, employed by Don L. Dise and Primus Corporation in Montgomery, IL, retiring in 2003. He was a member of Laborers Local 149, a lifetime member of the Beardstown VFW, New York Yankees and Green Bay Packers fan, enjoyed NASCAR and was also a member of the National Rifle Association. Bob loved to hunt, fish and tell stories, as well as spend time with his family and friends.
Bob is survived by his wife, Helen "Mackie" Bryant of Girard, IL; brother, Donald (Marlene) Bryant of Aurora, IL; sister, Dorothy (Norman) Flentje of Thayer, IL; sister-in-law, Hazel Bryant of Yorkville, IL; brother-in-law, Worley McCoy of Montgomery, IL; many special nieces and nephews and his special friend, "max", his Shih Tzu dog.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Edward L. and Richard E. Bryant; sister, Patricia McCoy and a sister-in-law, Peggy Jo Best.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Girard, IL.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at 10:00 am at the funeral home with Pastor Jerimy Wooley officiating.
Burial will take place in West Cemetery, Thayer, IL.
