Obituary of Marie Young

Marie Young, 86, of Carlinville, went to Heaven on Thursday afternoon, May 19, 2016 at Heritage Heath Care in Carlinville, IL. Marie was born on April 25, 1930, just outside of Carlinville, being the 6th of 10 children born to Joseph L. and Helena "Lena" (Koster) Costello. She married Arthur Young on September 13, 1952 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Carlinville, IL. He preceded her in death on July 6, 2003 after 51 years of marriage. Marie and Arthur lived their life on the family farm in Polk Township. She loved her family and her animals, especially her little dog Sassy. Marie liked going to auctions, eating out, dancing and traveling. She loved her grandchildren and was proud of all of them. Marie's 5 year old granddaughter and 2 year old great granddaughter danced with her on her 86th birthday. She was a lifelong member of Ss Mary and Joseph Catholic Church in Carlinville, as well as the Knight's of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary. Marie was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 4 sisters, Catherine Atteberry, Margaret Fritzsche, Caroline Regli, Irene Joiner and 3 brothers, Joseph "Tony" Costello, Joseph "Bud" Costello and Paul "Beak" Costello. Marie is survived by a son, Dennis (Beth) Young of Carlinville, IL; 2 daughters, Susan (Dennis) House of Plainview, IL and Barbara (Paul) Rost of O'Fallon, MO; 7 grandchildren, Matthew (Lori) House, Christina House, Joseph Young, Brian Young, Renee Young, Ellen Young and Molly Rost; 2 great granddaughters, Clara and Charlotte House; 2 sisters, Florence "Flossie" (Warren) Burritt of Tuscon, AZ and Theresa (John) Burns of Carlinville. Visitation will be held on Monday, May 23, 2016 from 9:00 to 11:00 am at Ss Mary and Joseph Catholic Church with a Funeral Mass following at the church at 11:00 am with Father Michael Haag officiating. Interment will be held at the Mausoleum of Valor in Mayfield Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Ss Mary and Joseph Catholic Church building fund or Calvary Cemetery. Davis-Anderson Funeral Home, Carlinville is in charge of arrangements.
