Obituary of William A. Leritz

William A. Leritz ,78 of Sugar Loaf, New York, passed away Monday, January 4, 2016, at his residence in Sugar Loaf, New York. Bill was born August 24, 1937, in Carlinville, IL, a son of Albert and Helen (Swierczek) Leritz. Bill graduated from Carlinville High School in 1955 and attended both Blackburn and Michigan State. He married Virginia (Martin) April 15, 1967, in St. Paul, MN. In the 1970s Bill worked on Wall Street as a reinsurance broker. He later owned and operated a paint and wallpaper store from 1978-2003. Bill also enjoyed operating a farm for nearly 25 years, which was his true passion dating back to his childhood. He was a pioneer in organic vegetable farming and participated in multiple farmers' markets throughout New York City. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, wife and brother, Alan Leritz. Visitation will be held Friday, January 8, 2016 from 6:00-7:00 pm at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Carlinville, Illinois where funeral services will be at 7:00 pm. Private burial will be in Mayfield Memorial Park Cemetery in Carlinville, IL. William is survived his son, David A. Leritz of Chicago, IL.
