Obituary of Virginia Bowers

Virginia Pauline Bowers 93 of Virden, passed away Monday evening, September 22, 2014 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL. Virginia was born on March 7, 1921 to Orville and Ida (Bridgewater) Fry in Fayette, IL. She married Joseph W. Bowers on November 19, 1937 in St. Charles, MO and he preceded her in death on November 22, 1984. Virginia was a seamstress for Carlinville Glove Factory and F.W. Means in Springfield, IL. After retirement she worked at home as a seamstress until 1984. Virginia enjoyed reading and was a member of the United Pentecostal Church in Virden. Virginia is survived by her son, Orville W. (Mary) Bowers of Girard; granddaughter, Kimberly Armstrong of Taylorville, IL; grandson, Michael Bowers of Girard and a sister, Retha Loy of Greenfield, IL and several nieces and nephews. Virginia was preceded in death by her husband; parents and 2 sisters, Frances Reynolds and Dorothy Price. Funeral Information Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 25, 2014 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Girard, IL. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 26, 2014 at 9:30 am at the funeral home in Girard with Brother Jim Magee officiating. Burial will take place in Roselawn Memorial Garden Cemetery, Bethalto, IL. Donations Information Memorials are suggested to Prairie Land Ambulance.
