Bill Whitlock
66, of Carlinville, passed away Sunday evening, April 27, 2014 at the Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL.
Bill was born on May 25, 1947 to Earl and Ina (Voyles) Whitlock in Litchfield. He graduated from Carlinville High School with the class of 1966. After high school, Bill joined the US Army and served as a Specialist 4 during Vietnam. On February 14, 1971 he married Pamela Mae Mullens at Gilead Baptist Church in Hettick. She preceded him in death on July 13, 2013.
Bill was a Signalman for Union Pacific Railroad, retiring in 2008 and was the local chairman for the signalman's union. Bill was a member of John L. Meyer VFW Post 1104 and Guy Baird American Legion Post 554. He was very active with the Macoupin Center for the Developmentally Disabled where he called BINGO, helped with the Special Olympics and was Santa Clause during Christmas. He was also a member of the Carlinville Football Club. Bill always had raffle tickets for sale.
Bill is survived by his son, Billy Whitlock Jr. of Springfield, IL; two brothers, Mike (Companion Brenda) Whitlock of Du Quoin, IL and Louis (Jennifer) Whitlock of Carlinville; three sisters, Vickie (Jerry) Shores of Virden, Peggy (John) Kahl of Carlinville and Michelle (Dave) Daniels of Springfield, IL, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Pamela and parents, Earl S. Whitlock and Ina Fern Whitlock. Funeral Information
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Carlinville.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 1, 2014 at 10:30 am at the funeral home with Rev. Cliff Woodman officiating.
Burial will follow in Hettick Cemetery. Donations Information
