John N. "Hogjaw" Boehler
77, of Girard, passed away at 9:59 p.m. on Friday, July 31, 2015 at Memorial Medical Center.
John was born June 6, 1938 in Harvel Township, the son of Roy and Catherine (Krager) Boehler. He married Cheri Eileen Clark "Maw" on June 27, 1970 in Girard; she preceded him in death on April 17, 2010.
John was a truck driver for nearly 50 years, retiring from CISCO in 2008. He enjoyed watching sports on television, attending sporting events for his grandchildren, deer hunting, vegetable gardening, attending local fish frys, and chatting with friends at Showtime Lanes. He was known for being ornery, but was a simple man, who loved his country life. John assigned a nickname to almost everyone he knew and always called people by their nicknames.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Evelyn Voyles.
He is survived by his children, Jonette "Punky" Boehler (companion, Julie "Girl" Dawson) of Nilwood, Jessica "Oakie" (Jeremy "Old Man") Bliss of Springfield, Janey "Chip" (Jason) Lutz of Farmersville, Jim (Leanne "Lanny") Boehler of Clayton, and Justteen (Gene) Wolstenholm of Peoria; eleven grandchildren, Brayden "Monster" Brown, Blayne "Harley" Brown, Brok "Lou" Boehler, Laken "Scooter" Bliss, Kynadee "J.F." Bliss, Zayne "Chubs" Lutz, MaKenna "Piggy" Lutz, Skyelissa "Knothead" Boehler, Clayton "Jaws" Boehler, Monica "Mon Mon" (Luke) Merano, and Matt "Rat" (Tricia) Smith; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Allen (Carol Ann) Boehler of Atwater; his beloved dog, Wendy; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, and cousins. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home, Girard. In honor of John's love for country life, the family encourages all guests to wear their favorite country attire to the visitation.
Funeral Ceremony: 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home, Girard with Rev. Amy Bickel officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Ridge Cemetery in Atwater, IL. Donations Information
