Peter P. Urbonas, Jr.
67, of Carlinville died Sunday, April 15, 2012 at his residence, with his family at his side. He was born September 23, 1944, in Alton, IL, the son of Peter P., Sr. and Virginia Evelyn (Brimberry) Urbonas. He married Patricia A. Bearden on November 19, 1996 in West Virginia. She preceded him in death on Feb. 24, 2001. Peter graduated from Carlinville High School, class of 1962. Pete retired from Monterey Coal Mines l & ll as the Communications Coordinator. Prior to that, he was the Safety Inspector for 10 years. Pete operated the Imperial Gas Station on West Main in Carlinville. He started his working career as a journeyman bottle maker for Owens Illinois. Peter was a Deacon of the Memorial Christian Church, and loved helping others. He also was an award winning wine maker, under the label "Hermit on the Hill".
Surviving are his son, Darrin Urbonas, (wife, Phyllis) of Mt. Olive, IL, daughters, Patricia Clark, (husband, Brad) of Bushnell, IL, Kathleen Urbonas-Smith, (husband, James) of Normal, IL, and Lisa Miles, (husband, Kyle) of Newburgh, IN. Many cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren, brother, Victor Urbonas, (wife, Brenda) of Gillespie, IL, sisters, Karen Suzanne Black, of Palmyra, IL, and Andrea Jeanine Wunder, of Stafford, IL, several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, and two sisters, Joan Louise Rademacher and Ginny Gail Harbaugh. Funeral Information
Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 18, 2012, from 3:00 - 6:00 pm at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Carlinville, with funeral services following at 6:00 pm. Rev. Gary Farthing will officiate, and his wife Mary Ellen will be the organist. Private burial will take place at a later date. Donations Information
