Dick Tipps
81, of Carlinville, passed away Sunday evening, October 10, 2010 at Carlinville Area Hospital.
He was born Sunday, November 25, 1928 in Jacksonville, IL, the son of Glen and Nellie (Edwards) Tipps.
Dick married Amanda St. Onge and they later divorced.
He later married Judy (Morgan) Robbins in Carlinville, IL on October 24, 1972.
Dick was a truck driver for Wiles Transport in Carlinville for several years before going to work for the City of Carlinville on the Street Department for 12 years. Dick and his wife Judy owned and operated Dick & Judy's Resturant in Carlinville for over 24 years.
Dick loved to ride his Harley Davidson motorcycle with friends from town. He served on the first board of Crime Stoppers. Dick was a member of the Carlinville Elks Lodge #1412 and Carlinville Moose Home. Dick enjoyed attending auctions and loved his animals. He served in United States Navy during Korean Conflict.
Surviving family members: wife, Judy Tipps of Carlinville, IL, son, Rick Tipps, Hawaii, son, Robbie Tipps of Carlinville, IL, daughter, Gay Dickerson (Tim) of Carthage, IL, 6 Grandchildren, Minette Lutz, Leslie Dawson, Travis Tipps Rachel Meyer, Sean Dickerson and Tyson Dickerson, 14 great grandchildren, brother, Alvin Tipps of Carlinville, IL, brother, Gary Tipps (Cindy) of Carlinville, IL, several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M., Wednesday, October 13 at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Carlinville, IL.
Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M., Thursday, October 14, 2010 at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home with Rev. John Curtis.
Burial will be in Prairie Lawn Cemetery
Pallbearers will be Tony Meyer, Travis Tipps, Sean Dickerson, Allen Dawson, Tyson Dickerson and Ken Lutz.
