Obituary of Robert Shanner

Robert "Squirrel" Shanner 75, of Carlinville, passed away Friday morning, March 8, 2013 at his residence in Carlinville, IL. Robert was born on May 3, 1937 to Harold and Helen (Hays) Shanner in Carlinville, IL. He graduated from Carlinville High School with the class of 1955 and married Donna Kuntzman on March 5, 1960 at the Carlinville United Methodist Church. Donna preceded Robert in death on January 7, 2012. Robert worked for Prairie Farms Dairy in Carlinville for over 30 years. He was a member of the Carlinville United Methodist Church and the Macoupin Club. Robert enjoyed fishing, camping, cars, and the outdoors. He loved and enjoyed being with his family, especially his grandchildren. Robert is survived by 2 daughters, Carmen (Vince) Hill of Springfield, IL and Michelle Conner of O'Fallon, MO; son, William R. "Bill" (Jane) Shanner of Carlinville and 3 grandchildren, Kellen William Voss, Karson Noah and Zoe Ann Shanner. He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna; parents, Harold A. and Helen C. Shanner and a brother, Jere Shanner. Funeral Information Visitation will be held Wednesday from Noon to 2:00 pm at the Carlinville United Methodist Church in Carlinville where funeral services will take place at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Robert Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Moore Cemetery, rural Carlinville. Donations Information Memorials are suggested to the Carlinville United Methodist Church, American Cancer Society or the Memorial Medical Center.
