Obituary of Doris Miller Schmidt

Doris Miller Schmidt 85, of Carlinville passed away Friday evening March 8, 2013, surrounded by her family at her residence. Doris was born December 5, 1927, in Carlinville, IL and was one of five daughters to Melvin H. and Verda (Best) Miller. Doris graduated from Carlinville High School with the class of 1946 and married Roy A. Schmidt, May 10, 1947, in Carlinville and he passed away May 23, 2003. Doris enjoyed being a homemaker to her husband and three children. In her spare time she was an accomplished upholsterer and worked in the office at the Macoupin County Fair for several years. Doris loved working with her daughters at Main Street Florist as well as spending quality time with her family. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Carlinville where she was baptized and confirmed on Dec 1, 1946. Doris loved to travel out west to see her son, and visit Mt. Rainier. Surviving are her daughters, Debbie (Andy) Zilm and Kelli (Randy) Chasteen, both of Carlinville. A son, Gary Schmidt of Olympia WA. Seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Two sisters, Betty (Eugene) Maguire and Barbara Mefford, both of Carlinville, along with several nieces and nephews. Funeral Information Friends may call on Monday, March 11, 2013 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Carlinville. Funeral Services will be held 10:30 am, Tuesday,March 12, 2013, Zion Lutheran Church in Carlinville IL with Reverend Scott Busacker officiating. Burial take place in Moore Cemetery, rural Carlinville Donations Information Memorials may be made to the Zion Lutheran Church or Macoupin County Tails .
