Obituary of Delphine L. Paul

Del Paul Age 90, of Carlinville passed away peacefully Thursday afternoon, January 9, 2014, at her residence. Del was born October 15, 1923, in Carlinville, IL, one of 5 daughters born to Victor and Mary (Ferrero) Selvo. She married Norman Ring Paul on June 8, 1946 in Carlinville and he passed away July 31, 2011. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 65 years, three sisters; Carmelena Selvo, Alene Selvo and Alvera Costa. Del graduated from Carlinville High School, class of 1940. Del and her husband, Norman worked hard to provide quality movie theatres in Hillsboro (The Orpheum Theatre), and Litchfield, (The Sky View Drive In). In Carlinville they operated (The Marvel Theatre, Diane Drive In, and the Bowlero Bowling Lanes). Del was famous for her tasty barbecue at the Diane Drive In and Italian Salad Dressing at Bowlero. She had many reguests for her recipes. Del was quiet and worked mostly behind the scenes, selling tickets, cooking, and handling all the paperwork related to the business. Del loved to travel and particularly enjoyed visiting her family in Italy with her sisters Carmelena and Alene. She was a faithful member of Ss Mary & Joseph Catholic Church in Carlinville. Surviving are her daughters Diane Brunton of Carlinville, IL and Denise (Tom) Ambrose of Carlinville, IL, sister, Vittorina Wilson of Carlinville, IL, niece, Mary ( Randy) von Liski, great-nephew, Brandon von Liski, and great-niece, Caitlin von Liski. Funeral Information Friends may call, Tuesday, January 14, 2014 from 9:00 to 10:30 AM at Ss Mary & Joseph Catholic Church in Carlinville where Father Angel Sierra will celebrate a Funeral Mass at 10:30AM. Del will be laid to rest next to her husband in New Calvary Cemetery.
