Rosemary C. Newman, "The Flower Lady" of rural Carlinville, passed away at age 79 on Sunday morning, February 15, 2015 at Heritage Health Care in Carlinville.
Rosemary , the oldest daughter of Edward Carlton and Lena Rivers (Everett) Cummins was born June 11, 1935 in Mayfield, Kentucky. She graduated from Arlington High School with the class of 1953. Rosemary obtained her BS degree in biology and home economics from Murray State University and taught in several Illinois high schools. On December 29, 1959 she married Frederick G. Newman in Arlington, Kentucky.
Rosemary had numerous hobbies, but her real passion was gardening, specializing in the growing of daffodils, peonies, hosta, and daylillies. She belonged to local, state, and national plant clubs and societies, and for many years taught horticulture at the Springfield Civic Garden Club. Her flowers grace gardens throughout the United States.
Rosemary is survived by her husband Fred; two sons, Steve (Nanette) Newman of Aurora, Colorado and Karl (Jackie) Newman of Champaign; daughter, Suzanne Newman Dunn of Naperville; six granddaughters, Elizabeth, Jill, and Victoria Dunn, Anna, Emma, and Hannah Newman; two grandsons, Nathaniel and Andrew Newman; sister, Nancy (Harold) Tolley of Bel Air, Maryland; cousin, Catherine (David) Dubrock of Arlington, Kentucky; several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Sunday afternoon, February 22nd, from 2:00 - 5:00 pm at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Carlinville.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 23, 2015 at Rural United Methodist Church, where Rosemary was a member, at 11:00 am, with Rev. John Curtis officiating. Her eight grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
Burial will take place in Rural Cemetery by the church. Donations Information
