Raymond Eldon Nance
92 of Virden, passed away Tuesday evening, January 27, 2015 at his residence in Virden, IL surrounded by his loving family.
Raymond was born on January 23, 1923 in Greenridge, IL, a son of Joseph A. and Eva (Davidson) Nance.
At the age of 17 Raymond enlisted in the Army and became a Medic during WWII. In September 1958 Raymond married Vivian Mason and she survives.
Raymond worked as a truck driver for Straub Brothers and Curry Ice & Coal in Carlinville before his retirement in 1983. He enjoyed gardening, yard work and in his spare time he loved to fish.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents and sons, Kirby & Stanley Lee Nance.
Raymond is survived by his wife, Vivian D. Nance of Virden, IL; son, Danny Nance of Springfield, IL; son, William Nance of Girard, IL; son, Raymond Nance of Girard, IL; daughter, Lella Eller of Jacksonville, IL; son, Terry Nance of Greenfield, IL; son, John (Nina) Nance of Springfield, IL; daughter, Patty (Alan) Orr of Jacksonville, IL; daughter, Vicky (companion, Travis) Nichols of Jacksonville, IL; daughter, Machelle (Patrick) Martin of Virden, IL; daughter, Ashley (Kris) Bottoms of Carlinville, IL; daughter, Amanda Orr of Springfield, IL; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister, Irene Morgan of Carlinville, IL, as well as several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 30, 2015 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Girard.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at 10:30 am at the funeral home with Rev. Mike Arthur officiating.
Burial will be held in Bull Cemetery, rural Scottville, IL. Donations Information
