Carl M. Maly
63, of Carlinville died Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at his residence in Carlinville, IL.
Carl was born April 18, 1950, in East St. Louis Illinois , a son of Otto and Wanella (Emerich) Maly.
Carl was preceded in death by his father.
Carl was raised in Louisiana, Missouri and graduated from high school there. He attended Bradley University and the University of Missouri Columbia where he studied accounting and business. Carl's professional career was in the steel business, the last 20 years being engaged in self employment as an independent broker of steel plate and pipe.
Carl lived life well. He had a forty year love affair with the Mississippi River and was never happier than when he was at his cabin in Calhoun County. A lifelong hunter and outdoor enthusiast he was a lifetime member of Ducks Unlimited and one of the founders of the Macoupin County Chapter of Whitetails Unlimited. He never met a stranger and enjoyed engaging in "intelligent bar conversation" whenever the opportunity presented itself. He loved the art of making a deal, large or small, and was an inveterate collector of "junque." He loved his family. He laughed often and made friends easily. He left too soon and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his mother, Wanella, of Columbia, Missouri, his sister Linda Lovell also of Columbia, Missouri, his beloved children Matthew of Champaign, IL and Carla of Alton, IL, and his best friend and great love Kate Campbell of Springfield, IL. Funeral Information
His body has been cremated. At his request there will be no funeral service, but instead a memorial celebration will be held at The Palace in Hamburg, IL on May 18, beginning at 2:00pm.
The family will also greet friends at Crabby's Supper Club in Carlinville, IL Friday, May 10, 2013 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm Donations Information
