Thomas M. Barnard III
87, of Girard, died Thursday, September 1, 2011 at his residence.
Tom was born Thursday, January 17, 1924 in West Frankfort, IL, the son of Thomas M. Barnard II and Goldie (Powell) Barnard.
Tom was united in marriage to Betty Faye (Weaver) in West Frankfort, IL on June 1, 1946.
Tom graduated from West Frankfort High School in 1942 and joined the Army to serve his country in WW II and the Korean Conflict.
Tom worked for 42 years in the coal mines at Orient, Farmersville and Carlinville before retiring.
Tom was a member of Nilwood Baptist Church for over 55 years and served his church as a deacon.
He was also a member of the Virden American Legion Post #115.
Tom was an avid golfer and shared his time with residents at Pleasant Hill Village.
Survived by sons T. Mike Barnard IV (Sandy) and James M. Barnard, both of Girard, daughter Cathy L. Guidish (George) of Palmyra,
7 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, sister Margie Ariondo (Tony) of Mesa, AZ, brother Albert Barnard (Wilda) of Mt. Vernon and aunt Florine Wright of Lansing, IL.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty, and grandson, Jeff Guidish. Funeral Information
Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, September 5 at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Girard.
Funeral service, 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be next to his wife in the Girard Cemetery with military graveside rites by the Virden American Legion Post #115. Donations Information
