Scott David "Howie" Long
38, of Carlinville, passed away Saturday morning, March 26, 2011 at St. Louis University Hospital, St. Louis MO.
Howie was born December 25, 1972 in Springfield IL, the son of David Long and Julie (Cherry) Boente. He married Andrea Vieceli on September 23, 1995 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Carlinville.
Howie had been self-employed with American Family Ins. Company since 1997. Howie had agencies in both Carlinville and Jerseyville, and as of January 1, 2010 was promoted to district manager. Howie was presented with multiple distinguished sales, leadership and customer service awards throughout his career. Howie enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, and had a great love of music, but most of all he took pleasure in coaching his boy's sports teams.
Howie is survived by his wife, Andrea Long of Carlinville; three sons, Broedy, Gabe, and Zayn Long all at home; mother, Julie (Cherry) Boente of Carlinville; father, David Long (Kathy) of Virden; brother, Trevor Long of Springfield; sister, Lindsay Richardson (Josh) of Sparta, MO; brother, Joey Boente of St. Paul, MN; step-brother, Kip Hohm (Lynn) of Palmyra; step-sister, Keri Hohm of Chandler, AZ and two nieces. Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 8:00 P.M., with prayer service recited after visitation, Wednesday, March 30 at Ss. Mary and Joseph Catholic Church, 2010 E. 1st. South St., Carlinville.
Funeral Mass will be conducted at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, March 31, at the church with Rev. Angel Sierra, Rev. Tom Donovan and Rev. George Morelock concelebrating mass.
Burial will be in New Calvary Cemetery in Carlinville. Donations Information
