Marvel J. LeVora
85, of Carlinville, passed away Friday, November 26, 2010 at Carlinville Area Hospital.
Marvel was born Wednesday, April 1, 1925 in Carlinville, IL, the son of Jacob Matthew and Lela Ann (Morehead) LeVora.
He married Norma Griffiths in Little Rock, AR on February 14, 1950. She passed away on November 16, 2008.
Marvel joined the Army and served during W.W.#2. Marvel started his driving career as a self-employed truck driver hauling livestock and commodities. He later was offered a job driving for Starr Bros., Inc. in Carlinville and worked until 1975 when he accepted a job with Prairie Farms Dairy. He worked as a general laborer until retirement in 1985. Marvel was known for his love of fishing and enjoyed delivering cars to various dealerships in the Illinois and surrounding states.
Marvel was a member of Ss Mary & Joseph Catholic Church as well as, Guy Baird American Legion Post #554. Past memberships include Carlinville Elk's Lodge #1412 and past President of the Macoupin Club.
Survivors: Son, Thomas A. LeVora (Peggy) of Bloomington, IN, Son, Gerald W. "Jerry" LeVora Sr. (Angie) of Carlinville, IL, Son, John M. LeVora (Susan A.) of Carlinville, IL, Daughter, Kelley Philpott of St. Louis, MO, 5 Grandchildren, 5 Great Grandchildren, Sister, Eileen Ryan of Edwardsville, IL, Sister, Marie Burke of Carlinville, , IL.
He was preceded in death by parents, wife and granddaughter, Christy Lynne LeVora. Funeral Information
Visitation: 9:00 to 10:30 A.M., Saturday, December 4 at Ss Mary & Joseph Catholic Church in Carlinville, IL.
Mass of Christian Burial will be after visitation at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, December 4, 2010 at Ss Mary & Joseph Catholic Church.
Burial will be in New Calvary Cemetery. Donations Information
Memorials may be made to the Macoupin County T.A.I.L.S. or Carlinville Area Hospital Building Fund.
