Lucille Ballinger Lucille Ballinger, age 90, of Atwater, passed away Friday, Februery 8, 2008 at 8:00 P.M. at Friendship Home in Carlinville. She was born on August 14, 1917, the daughter of the late Otto and Clara (Bouillon) Klaus. She graduated from Carlinville High School in 1936, and two years later married George E. Ballinger on December 19, 1938 in Carbondale, Illinois. Lucille was a school bus driver for the Carlinville School District for thirty-seven years, retiring in 1983. She also wrote the "Atwater News" column for the local newspapers for many years. Lucille was a member of Rural United Methodist Church, where she belonged to the United Methodist Women. She was a member of Royal Neighbors, Nieghborhood Sewing Club, and Macoupin County Home Extension. Lucille liked to quilt, and has made many over the years. She followed her family and their love for horseracing. She enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals and the Fighting Illini on television. Lucille is survived by two sons, Jim of Atwater, and Bob of Carlinville. Two daughters survive, Nancy Neunaber, husband Tom, of Carlinville, and Linda Lewis, husband Joe, of Atwater. Nine grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren are left behind. Also surviving are two brothers, Roy Klaus, wife Norma, of Carlinville, and Kenny Klaus, wife Jackie, of Gillespie. A sister, Eileen Morehead, of Pekin, Illinois, and several nieces and nephews are surviving. She is preceded in death by her parents, Otto and Clara Klaus, her husband of thirty-five years, George E. Ballinger, a daughter-in-law Phyllis Ballinger, brother Stanley Klaus, and a sister Velma Arter. Funeral Information Friends may call Monday, February 11, from 4 - 8:00 P.M. at the Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Carlinville. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Februery 12th, at 11:00 A.M. at Rural United Methodist Church, located one-half mile north on Standard City Road off of Illinois Route 108. Rev. John Curtis will officiate and Mary Lou Remling will play the piano for the Rural Harmony Quartet. There will be a visitation time from 10 - 10:45 A.M. at the church. Burial will be in Bethel Ridge Cemetery, near Atwater. Friends are asked to join the family for a time of food and friendship following the committal, at Rural United Methodist Church.
