Obituary of Roy A. Klaus

Roy Klaus 91, of Carlinville passed away Sunday morning, October 19, 2014, in Carlinville, IL. Roy was born July 4, 1923, in Carlinville, IL, one of six children to Otto and Clara Bouillon Klaus. Roy graduated from Carlinville High School with the class of 1941. He served his country in the Army for three and half years during World War II. He was stationed in Africa and Italy. In 2012 Roy had the privilege of traveling to Washington, D.C. on the Honor Flight. He was united in marriage to Norma Graham in Carlinville on Nov 3, 1946 in a triple wedding ceremony with his two sisters and their husbands. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Stanley Klaus; sisters, Lucille Ballinger and Velma Arter. Roy was retired from Prairie Farms Dairy and a lifetime farmer in the Carlinville area. He was a devoted and loving husband who spent 67 years with the woman of his life. He taught his children, grandchildren and great and great-great grandchildren how to live life in a loving, caring, and fun filled way. He truly was a hero to all of those who had the honor of knowing him. Roy enjoyed fishing, gardening, wood working, and all of nature. Surviving are his wife, Norma E. Klaus of Carlinville, IL, daughter, Janie (Mike) Lackman of Carlinville, IL, son, Ron (Bobbie) Klaus of Carlinville, IL, 4 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, sister, Eileen Morehead of Pekin, IL, brother, Kenny (Jackie) Klaus of Gillespie, IL, several nieces and nephews. Funeral Information Visitation will be held, Tuesday, October 21, 2014, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Carlinville. Funeral Services will take place at 11:00 am, Wednesday,October 22, 2014, Rural Methodist Church with Rev. John Curtis. Burial will be in Bethel Ridge Cemetery, rural Atwater.
