Dorothy Harms 85, of Carlinville, formerly of Girard, passed away Sunday afternoon, January 12, 2014 at Carlinville Area Hospital in Carlinville, IL. Dorothy was the oldest daughter of Coy and Bessie (Craig) Robinson born on November 4, 1928 near Waggoner, IL. Harold "Gene" Harms and Dorothy Robinson were married September 12, 1947 at St. Paul's Evangelical Church (now St. Paul's United Church of Christ) in Carlinville by Rev. Hohmann. They recently celebrated 66 years of marriage. Dorothy was a 1946 graduate of Girard High School. She has been a member of Atwater Christian Church since June 16, 1959 serving as secretary and assistant treasurer and a member of the Christian Women's Fellowship; David Hart Unit 115 American Legion Auxiliary in Girard serving as president, chaplain and secretary-treasurer of the unit and offices in Macoupin County American Legion auxiliary and as an election judge for many years. She was employed at Gold Nugget Publications for 18 years, retiring in 1988. Dorothy is survived by her husband, Harold "Gene" Harms of Carlinville; 3 daughters, Jeanette (Gary) Miller of Springfield, IL, Karen (Darrell) Bellm of Carlinville and Gail (Richard) Hazelwood of Girard; 8 grandchildren, Kristine Miller, Scott (Nancy) Miller, Jennifer (Eric) Branham, Dawn (Shawn) McFarland, Aaron (Deidra) Bellm, Patricia (Mike) Huff, Heather (Kevin) McSmith and Aprille (Mike) Kuhar; 23 great grandchildren, Gabriel, Michaela, Solomon, Mollie, Olivia, Elijah and Noah Huff, Joselyn and Gage McFarland; Alyssa and Addison Miller, Kirsten, Katie and Emma Bollinger, Damian, Kaitlyn and Shelby Griffin, Peyton and Denise Branham, Ethan and Sophia McSmith, Zander Bellm and Allison Kuhar; 2 sisters, Doris Van Huss of Virden and Gladys Smothers of Palestine, TX; brother, Ronald (Pat) Robinson of Greenville, TX, as well as several nieces and nephews. Dorothy was preceded in death by father, Coy W. Robinson on January 22, 1971 and her mother, Bessie A. Robinson on February 8, 1992. Funeral Information Visitation will be held on Friday, January 17, 2014 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Carlinville, IL. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at 10:00 am at funeral home in Carlinville with Rev's. Cliff Woodman and Ron Lindsey officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel Ridge Cemetery, rural Atwater. Donations Information Memorials are suggested to the Girard Fire and Rescue Squad or the Carlinville Area Hospital.
