Obituary of Dwight Dean Gross

Dwight Dean Gross 79, of Carlinville, died Monday afternoon, April 25, 2011 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. Dwight was born Sunday, April 10, 1932 in Jersey County, IL, the son of Pearl Dean and Minta Jane (Brooks) Gross. Dwight graduated from Medora High School in 1950 and served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. Dwight and Joyce Ann (Rhoads) were united in marriage on March 9, 1958 in Hernando, Mississippi. Dwight was a farmer and delivered fuel for FS and Boente Shell companies for several years. In 1976 he became a Federal Meat Inspector and retired in the early 90's due to his health. Survivors: wife, Joyce A. Gross of Carlinville, daughter, Marsha K. Smith (Walter) of Carlinville, IL, sons, David E. Gross (companion; Deanna Stadge) Ricky L. Gross (companion; Mary Bort) and Ronald W. Gross (friend; Rebecca Griffitts) all of Carlinville, 14 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 1 great great granddaughter, sister, Shirley Bowman (Harold) of Summerville, IL, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a great grandson. Funeral Information Friends may call from 9:30 A.M. to 11:30 A.M., Thursday, April 28 at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Carlinville. Where funeral services will be held at 11:30 A.M., Thursday, April 28, 2011 at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home. Entombent will be in the Mausoleum of Valor at Mayfield Memorial Park Cemetery in Carlinville with Guy Baird American Legion Post #554 presenting the flag and taps. Donations Information Memorials may be made to the Macoupin Military Support Group or Shriner's Hospital (Smiles for Children's Hospital) Chicago, IL.
