Obituary of Florence Waterman Armstrong

Florence Waterman Armstrong Florence Waterman Armstrong, 81, of Carlinville, died Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at Carlinville Area Hospital. She was born Monday, July 30, 1928 in Brooklyn, New York, the Daughter of Wayne R. Waterman, MD and Florence (McCafferty) Waterman. She graduated high school in Brooklyn, New York. Florence later married Norman L Armstrong in Kalamazo, Michigan on September 24, 1949, he preceeded her in death February of 2009. Florence attended Kalamazoo College, graduating with her Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish and Elementary Education. She taught a variety of elementary grades in Ohio, Michigan and Illinois, and was a reading specialist. She was a member of The Federated Church where she was a former choir member and member of the governing board. Florence enjoyed gardening. Survivors: Son, Dr. Mark W Armstrong (Lynn) of Carlinville, IL, Son, Richard N Armstrong of Winfield, WV, Grandson, Gregory Armstrong McDonald (Sarah) of Harrisburg, VA, Grandson, Jeffrey Armstrong of Philadelphia , PA, Grandson, Daniel Armstrong (Fiancee Sarah Keister) of North Hampton, MA, Arthur Dwayne Brooks, of Winfield, WV, close friend of the family, and 3 Nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a brother, Dr. Wayne A. Waterman, M.D. . Funeral Information A memorial service for family and friends will be held at the Federated Church in Carlinville on Saturday, June 19th, at 10:00 A.M. Rev. Jeff Johnson will officiate.
