Nelson Wayne "Sonny" Falter
72, of Carlinville, passed away Sunday, August 22, 2010 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO.
He was born Sunday, June 19, 1938 in Reader, Illinois, the son of Joseph Jacob and Bessie Louise ( Smith) Falter Meares.
He married Shirley L. (Imel) in Carlinville, IL at the Zion Lutheran Church on April 19, 1958.
Nelson graduated from the class of 1956 at Carlinville High School.
Nelson was a grain farmer in the Reader area. Nelson also retired in 1993 after 23 years of service at the Monterey Coal Mine as supervisor of the prep plant. Nelson had also worked for 10 years for the State of Illinois at the Department of Agriculture Weights and Measures Department.
Nelson was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and Chesterfield-Plainview Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed fishing and traveling.
Surviving are his wife Shirley, son, Michael D. Falter (Lesa) of Springfield, IL, daughter, Andrea Card (Thomas) of Plainview, IL, grandchildren, Mitchell, Tori and Kali Falter and , Brittany, Kelsey and Daniel Card, brother, Ronald Falter (Carole) of Edwardsville, IL, sister, Linda Moore (Roger) of Medora, IL, sister, Amelia Smith (James) of Valrico, FL, step-brother, Larry Stratton (Jane) Plant City, FL., step-brother, Delmar Stratton (Dorothy) of Plant City, FL, step-sister, Chloe Felmet (Bob) of Springfield, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents Funeral Information
Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M., Friday, August 27 at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Carlinville.
Funeral Service will be at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, August 28, 2010 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Carlinville with Rev. Peter Kirby officiating.
Burial will be in Mayfield Memorial Park Cemetery in Carlinville. Donations Information
