Obituary of M. Joann Allen

Joann Allen 77, of Girard, passed away, Saturday, April 24, 2010 at Pleasant Hill Village in Girard. She was born Thursday, September 22, 1932 in Henry, IL, the Daughter of Wesley C. Wertz and M. Maurine (England) Wertz Collins. She married Lloyd E. Allen on October 14, 1951 at the Methodist Church in Girard. Joann graduated from Girard High School, class of 1950 and attended McMurrary College in Jacksonville for one year. She was Bookkeeper for State Bank of Girard for 25 years and kept books for son Phil at Gents Only Clothier in Girard, Virden, and Springfield. Joann worked along the side with her husband on the family farm and drove a school bus for Girard School District for over 10 years. She was a member of the Girard Methodist Church where she play the organ for many years, Secretary-Treasurer for the Girard Alumni Association, and member of the PEO Chapter- EJ. She had served as the Worthy Matron for the Girard Eastern Star. Joann played the organ for numerous weddings and funerals. Joann loved spending time with her family, especially babysitting, bowling, and the last year of so, shopping on QVC. Survivors: Husband, Lloyd E., Daughter, Barbie J. Meyers (Larry) of Girard, IL, Son, Phil C. Allen of Girard, IL, Son, Jeffrey D. Allen of Marion, IL. Grandchildren; Rob A. Meyers (Cheryl) of Chatham, Ryan M. Meyers (Dacia) Chatham, IL, C.J. Meyers of Springfield, IL, Cari Perce (Adam) of Girard, IL, and Amanda Allen of Girard, IL.; Great Grandchildren; Lacey Stauffer, Alyssa Meyers, Sidney Meyers, Kalli Allen, Rylee Allen, Kelsey Allen, and Maksim Meyers, Sister, Judi Thomas (Lou) of Claredon Hills, IL, and Several Nieces and Nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral Information Friends and family may call from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M., Tuesday, April 27 at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Girard, IL. Funeral Services will be held, 10:30A.M., Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Ford officiating and Howard Shockey as organist.
