Obituary of Alvera R. Costa

Alvera R. Costa 86, of Staunton, passed away Saturday evening, December 21, 2013 at her family's residence in Carlinville, IL. Alvera was the youngest daughter born to Victor and Mary (Ferrero) Selvo on March 23, 1927 in Carlinville, IL. She was a 1945 graduate of Carlinville High School. Alvera married Albert Costa in Carlinville and they were married for 53 years. Albert preceded her in death on April 25, 2007. Alvera was a legal secretary for Lucille Murphy Law Office in Virden for over 50 years. She and Albert loved to dance and travel. People said that you never saw one without the other. They enjoyed trips to Las Vegas to see their friend Sam Butera perform. In 1997, they traveled to Italy to visit with family. Alvera never passed a bingo parlor that she didn't stop in to play. She enjoyed life. Alvera was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Staunton. Alvera is survived by 2 sisters, Delphine "Del" Paul and Vittorina Wilson both of Carlinville, as well as several nieces and nephews. Alvera was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Costa; parents and 2 sisters, Carmelena and Alene Selvo. Funeral Information Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 24, 2013 from 9:00 to 10:00 am at Ss Mary and Joseph Catholic Church in Carlinville with funeral Mass following at 10:00, with Rev. Angel Sierra officiating. Burial will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery, Staunton, IL. Donations Information Memorials are suggested to the St. Michael's Church in Staunton, Ss.
