Obituary of Robert L. Albertine

Robert L. "Sonny" Albertine 86, of Carlinville, passed away Thursday afternoon, May 24, 2012 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL. Sonny was born on September 21, 1925 to Pete and Josephine (Ossola) Albertine in Carlinville. He was a graduate of Carlinville High School and served in the Navy during WWII in the South Pacific, receiving 2 battle stars. Sonny married Norma E. Watters on May 27, 1954 in Springfield, IL. She preceded him in death on November 30, 2004, as well as his parents; sister, Sylvia Vozel and a nephew. Sonny was a plumber by trade. He was employed by the State of Illinois, working for the Secretary of State. Sonny served as a precinct committeeman for the democratic party, than later as it's chairman for several years. He was an alderman for over 39 years for the city of Carlinville, as well as a member of Ss Mary and Joseph Catholic Church. Sonny loved watching Illini sports and the Green Bay Packers. In his younger years he was an avid bowler. Sonny attended all of his granddaughter's activities and sporting events and he was their biggest fan. Sonny is survived by his son, Lynden R. "Alby" Albertine (Jill) of Carlinville; 2 Grandchildren, Madeline and Lydia Albertine, as well as 3 step-children. Funeral Information Visitation will be held on Monday, May 28, 2012 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Ss Mary and Joseph Catholic Church in Carlinville with prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the church with Rev. Angel Sierra officiating. Burial will take place in Prairie Lawn Cemetery with military rites. Donations Information Memorials are suggested to Loveless Park, care of Carlinville Park District.
