Mary Alice Smithson Campbell 90, of Springfield, Missouri, formerly of Statesboro, Georgia and Carlinville passed away Sunday, February 15, 2015 in Springfield, Missouri. Mary was born on December 17, 1924 to Lennie and Ora (Buckingham) Smithson in Virden, Illinois. On February 2, 1945 she married Carl Campbell. Mary's interests and activities centered around her honoring her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in all that she did, said, and thought. Therefore, her vibrant life blessed her family, friends, and the Cause of Christ. As a humble, happy, hard working child of God, she fulfilled the role of wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother with grace and gratitude. She was interested in the details of each family member and prayed specifically and daily for them. Mary, a pastor's wife, served alongside her husband, Carl, in six churches, in three states, for 39 years. She used her many gifts for the good of others. Her lifelong hope of experiencing the joy of being in the heavenly presence of Jesus Christ is now realized. She fought the good fight, she finished her race, she kept the faith. Mary is survived by her two daughters; Sharon (Clint) Megginson of Waverly, IL, and Deanna (Lowell) Hettick of Springfield, MO; son, Craig (Cindy) Campbell of Annandale, VA; three granddaughters, Letitia (Brandon) Megginson-Brown of Waverly, IL, Amber (Dan) Shockley of Gallatin, TN, and Allison (Jacob) Scowden of Springfield, MO; four grandsons, Justin (Amy) Hettick of Morgantown, WV, Chad (Renee) Megginson of Arcadia, OK, Jared (Linda) Campbell of New York, NY, and Tyler (Lauren) Campbell of Statesboro, GA; Ten Great-Grandchildren, Levi Brown, Jaden Megginson, Dalton Megginson, Case Brown, Ethan Shockley, Samuel Hettick, Tucker Brown, Gunner Megginson, Carson Shockley, and Knox Megginson; two sisters, Verna Bentley of Carlinville, IL and Vivian Pilgrim of Manchester, IA; several nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by parents, husband, Carl on January 12, 1996; 3 sisters, Bernice Jones, Crystal Swanson and Wanda Lohrer; 1 brother, Carroll Smithson. Funeral Information Visitation will be held Friday, February 20, 2015, from 10:00 - 11:00 am at the Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Carlinville. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 20, 2015, at 11:00 am at the funeral home, with Elder Steve Taylor officiating. Burial will take place in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Palmyra. Donations Information Memorials are suggested to the Brooklet Primitive Baptist Church in Brooklet, Georgia.
