Obituary of Glenn Gene Bounds

Glenn Gene "Slim" Bounds, 88, of Girard, IL passed away Friday morning, December 22, 2023, at Sunrise Skilled Care in Virden. IL. Glenn was born September 7, 1935, in Carlinville, IL, a son of Wiley A. and Eva R. Gross Bounds. Slim graduated from Carlinville High School with the class of 1952. He joined the Army in 1958 and served until 1960. After his discharge, he joined the General Telephone Company "GTE" and worked as a Lineman Tech until his retirement from the Girard-Virden area. Glenn enjoyed spending time gardening, hunting, and fishing. He was a member of the Girard Fire Department. Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Bernice Mae Krueger, and brother, Wayne E. Bounds. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 28, 2023, 4:00 from 6:00 pm at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Girard, IL. Funeral Services will be conducted at 9:30 am, Friday, December 29, 2023, at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home with Shawn Burgess officiating. Burial will follow in Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield, IL. Glenn is survived by his sons, David Bounds of Virden, IL and Daniel (Colleen) Bounds of Crystal Lake, IL, and grandchildren Luke and Rory Bounds. Davis-Anderson Funeral Home, Girard, is in charge of arrangements.
