Obituary of Loren Clyde Vance

Please share a memory of Loren to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Loren Clyde Vance, 89 of Farmersville, IL passed away Monday morning, July 17, 2023, at Copper Creek Memory Care in Litchfield, IL. The story of Loren Vance started on a farm in Palmyra Illinois. There, Loren grew up in a strong Christian environment, surrounded by his parents, brothers, several aunts, uncles and cousins. As a young man, Loren was drafted into the U.S. Army soon after graduating from Palmyra High School. On furlough from the Army, he met and married the pretty Dorothy Irene Burns. Loren and Dorothy had a whirlwind romance and were married within 6 weeks’ time bringing his Army furlough to a romantic close. Loren then headed back to Fort Leonard Wood to finish his Army service. Loren and Dorothy had their first daughter Vicki Jo, whose little life perished after only a few weeks on this earth. Dorothy and Loren went on to have three more children Marsha, Ricky, and Steven. Dorothy went on to be with the Lord in 1997, some forty years after she first met and married Loren. After Dorothy’s passing, he married the wonderful Carol Leonard in 2000; a marriage of 23 years. Loren’s legacy goes on with 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren, all who lovingly called him “Pops”. Loren found great joy in the little ones and the newest baby in the family was always his favorite. Loren worked for a short stint at Allis Chalmer’s in Springfield and later went on to work for J.F. Boente and Sons gas company in Carlinville Il., where he helped pioneer the first propane delivery route, serving customers for over 40 years. Loren was dedicated to his customers and always made sure they had a propane supply necessary to keep their homes comfortable. Loren loved to work with his hands and had a garage full of tools to prove it. More than that, Loren loved spending time with family. Loren was everything a person could want to be in this world: loving, hardworking, loyal, patriotic and a Christian. He leaves behind a very grateful family that will miss him very much. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 20, 2023, 9:00 to 11:00 am at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home, Girard, IL. Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 am, Thursday, July 20, 2023 at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery, next to his wife Dorothy in Palmyra, IL.
