Obituary of Joanne Rhoads

Elizabeth 'JOANNE' Rhoads, 92, of Carlinville, IL, previously of Plainview, IL, passed away Friday, July 7, 2023, at Heritage Health Care in Carlinville, IL. She was a beloved wife, mother, aunt, cousin, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Joanne was born on June 20, 1931, to Edward and Stella (Chism) Pressler, in Chesterfield, IL, where she spent her formative years before moving with her family to Plainview, IL. She married Samuel Rhoads on November 26, 1948. She graduated from Carlinville High School and later became a 35-year dedicated employee with the United States Department of Agriculture. Throughout her career she was known for her kindness, hard work, and loving spirit. She treasured time with others-spending countless hours embracing love-filled gatherings and outings. Joanne was an active and devoted member of the Shipman United Methodist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Rhoads and daughter, Rebecca Rhoads Haley. Joanne is survived by her son, Robert Rhoads (Michael Zemblidge) of Fort Lauderdale, FL; nephew Kurt Rhoads (Nance Williamson) of Garrison, NY; nieces Robyn and Sydni Stone of Denver, CO; and son-in law, David Haley (Becky Rhoads Haley) of Plainview, IL. Her memory will always be cherished and serve as a blessing to those who knew her. A private graveside service will be held at a future date.
